FAQ
Hetian jade plaque questions, answered clearly
Practical answers about material, certificates, value, sizing, custom carving and care for new and experienced buyers.
How can I compare seed jade and mountain jade?
Seed jade and mountain jade form in different ways, but neither label alone decides quality. Compare the actual structure, colour, oily feel, inclusions, workmanship, condition, documentation and price of each plaque.
What can an NGTC or independent certificate confirm?
A laboratory report can identify the tested material and disclose detectable treatments within its scope. Check the report number, product name, photograph, material description and remarks against the exact plaque. A report does not normally prove a precise mine or river origin by itself.
Can I see current daylight photos and video before ordering?
Yes. Ask for current front, reverse, edge and transmitted-light photographs, plus a short close-up video. These views help you judge tone, inclusions, polish, thickness and the way the plaque sits in the hand.
What size and thickness suit everyday wear?
A slim 6 mm profile is light and easy to layer. Around 8.5 to 9.5 mm feels steadier in the hand, while a 10 mm-plus profile can support deeper relief. The best choice also depends on the plaque dimensions, cord and your clothing.
What makes one Hetian jade plaque cost more than another?
Price reflects the specific stone, not just the word Hetian: structure, colour, translucency, oily feel, natural skin, usable size, carving quality, labour, condition and documentation all matter. Compare like-for-like photographs, measurements and reports before judging value.
Can I request a custom motif or size?
Yes. We can discuss the occasion, motif, dimensions and budget, then match a suitable stone, share a design direction and confirm key carving stages before final polishing.
How should I care for a jade plaque after it arrives?
Wipe it with a soft cloth and clean water, then dry it fully. Avoid hard impacts, prolonged heat, direct sun, chemical cleaners and ultrasonic devices. Store the plaque separately from harder jewellery.
